FUTURETIX Presents the 2nd Annual John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award!

Las Vegas, NV –November 15, 2016 – Ticketing aficionado, Maureen Andersen, was chosen as the 2016 recipient of the FutureTix John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award.

The John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award is presented to a long-term ticketing professional that has exhibited the same Leadership, Integrity and Excellence that John, otherwise known as “Buschie”, exhibited during his 40-year career.

“John was a mentor to so many.  His charisma, embodied through his stories and good humor, brought smiles to all that knew him. To know John was to love John, and we were all saddened when Buschie succumbed to complications from an illness in 2015,” says Dan DeMato, Founder of FutureTix… “We are privileged to honor John’s memory and his exemplary career by recognizing one of the current leaders in our industry, Maureen Andersen.”

In the true spirit of the award, this year’s recipient, Maureen Andersen, is a highly-respected industry leader with a special passion for the live entertainment industry.  She has vast experience in ticketing operations and sales and is considered one of the most highly respected individuals in our industry.  Maureen has worked for several prominent organizations on the service side of the business and is considered an innovator with exceptional industry knowledge.  Furthermore, Maureen has been a very active member of the International Ticketing Association (INTIX) for over 30 years and recently was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of INTIX.

During her acceptance speech, Maureen Andersen remarked, “In a world full of strife, and with everything going on these days… working in live entertainment and show business is our opportunity to give back and to see smiles on people’s faces… what we do makes a profound difference in the world.  I am so grateful [to receive this award].  I cannot tell you how shocked and appreciative I am… The FutureTix Symposium is a great conference… it allows industry people who are normally in competition with each other, in respectful manners… to talk about what we do in a very collegiate manner.  Thank you, Dan, for creating this and continuing it.”

John Buschhorn’s ticketing career began in 1977 when he became the New York Cosmos ticketing manager.  Buschie subsequently became VP & General Manager for Ticketmaster’s East Region covering from Virginia to Maine.  He worked closely with Fred Rosen in what many call the “wild, wild west days” of ticketing.  One day the New York Jets were seeking someone to run their ticketing department. Buschie was an ideal fit, and so began a 14-year career with the Jets.  The original 1960 name of John’s beloved New York Jets football team was the New York Titans.  When the Jets offices moved from Long Island to New Jersey John took a Director’s position at MSG.  A little-known fact is that before ticketing, John was a NYC Police Officer for four years.

The John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award is presented annually at the FutureTix Ticketing Symposium which, held in a different city each year, aims to bring together ticketing professionals to discuss industry trends, best practices and new technology.  At this year’s event, Bob Beatty, the inaugural award winner, attended the Symposium and presented the award to Maureen.
