The Veteran Tickets Foundation, Vet Tix, launched seven years ago by Navy veteran Mike Focareto, already has delivered more than 1.5 million free tickets to troops, veterans, and their families. The service has been growing, and the last year alone it has distributed more than 500,000 tickets. Noticing the empty seats at a National Football League game he was attending, Focareto founded the thriving word-of-mouth program by finding unused tickets and making them available to current and former service members. "I wondered at the time how many veterans were missing out on that 'All-American' experience for which they sacrificed," Focareto says. "Vet Tix was born that day and it has grown into a thriving word-of-mouth program benefiting thousands of military families," says Focareto, Vet Tix founder. Large promoters, venues, local colleges, pro sports franchises, and individual season ticket holders donate tickets ranging from the Major League Baseball Cub-Giants game in Chicago to the Kelly Clarkson concert in Denver. To get tickets, users go to VetTix.org, create a free account, and request events.
