Seaters, founded by three Belgian entrepreneurs, is a ticket-fielding platform and app for giving fans a second chance to purchase seats that become available at events that are officially sold out. Organizers usually reserve seats for problem-solving or to have capacity available in case of unexpected need. Meanwhile, resellers who buy tickets in bulk often return seats they do not sell, and sponsors or corporations that purchase blocks of seats for promotions or as employee perks sometimes have tickets they cannot use. Seaters generates a dynamic waiting list that gives aspiring ticket-buyers a percentage likelihood of securing a spot in the stands. As seats once claimed become available, the service presents those in the list with opportunities to obtain them. Tickets are priced at face value, while Seaters receives a 20 percent handling fee. "It is bringing fair trade to a very dark market," notes Seaters co-founder Jean-Sebastien Gosuin. "It is an official gateway to the last seats that remain; the long-term vision is no more empty seats."
