Pittsburgh-based ShowClix, which says it is the first company to develop an app turning a mobile device into a ticket scanner, is now launching Agent, a ticketing automation tool that monitors and responds to events with pre-approved actions in real time. For example, Agent can send out a tweet letting fans know an event is nearly sold out. “It lets you keep an eye on things without having to constantly watch ticket sales in real time and focus on the important things that make events successful,” says ShowClix's Nate Good. It also alerts the event team when all audience members have checked in, automatically raises ticket prices for dynamic pricing situations, monitors spikes in user traffic, and shows which outreach efforts are yielding the best results. Last year the the company raised $2.1 million for marketing and new product development, and recently secured "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and "The Daily Show" as clients. The company now is looking to expand its international markets; the service currently supports four languages and 50 currencies. "Above all the focus is on the product," Good says. "Our feeling is that we're a technology company; we just happen to be in the event ticketing space."
