Amazon has relaunched a service it offers selling theater tickets to shows on London's West End. Whereas Amazon previously sold tickets for a limited number of shows via its Amazon Local website, usually with a concentration on discounted seats, the company says the relaunch will make "millions of tickets...across all 48 shows on London's West End" available for purchase. "Although [deals for discounted tickets] will still be the case for some shows, this is a move to being a genuine ticketer," says an Amazon spokesperson. "We are moving away from deals to offering the full range of ticket prices, from bottom to full price." The spokesperson also notes Amazon Local can now access every seat on sale in production, instead of being apportioned a limited selection. Amazon says tickets will be bookable in less than 60 seconds, and it is promoting special offers on tickets from its launch until April 30, which could include no or reduced booking fees, or lower ticket prices. The Amazon site says all costs would be displayed up front and there would be no additional fees charged at checkout.
