Comcast subsidiary APACTix will vie with SISTIC for a piece of the Singaporean and Asian sports and entertainment market, more than a year after its rollout of an in-house Paciolan ticketing system for the Sports Hub. APACTix general manager Chad Phillips says the service provider is planning to offer an alternative retail ticketing option for patrons and organizers of live events starting in January 2015, although events staged at the Sports Hub will be excluded. “There is space in Singapore for two large players,” he says. “Singapore is a growing market for live entertainment and we are seeing more and more coming here. It will provide healthy competition, not only for consumers, but event promoters.” In addition to a main box office at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, APACTix will sell tickets via SingPost outlets and have box offices on site at events. Phillips notes his company also is offering concert promoters and venue owners an exclusive, Paciolan-enabled in-house ticketing system. He concedes APACTix will face some initial struggle in its competition with SISTIC, but he hopes the service will achieve sufficient credibility among Singapore ticket buyers and concert promoters in three years. More than 1.92 million tickets were sold for 4,461 shows at Singapore venues in 2012, according to estimates from the National Arts Council.
