Etix recently launched a new promotion in which fans who purchase event tickets receive a $20 credit for an Uber ride to the event. The offer, which is only available to new Uber users, benefits both companies. "Etix gets to ally with a hot brand and it’s a differentiator for us," says Brian Bauer of Rockhouse Partners, Etix's digital marketing agency. "Uber wins because they get new riders and the venue will see a boost in alcohol sales as more people arrange for transportation instead of driving themselves." Ticket purchasers receive a promotion code and a link to download the Uber app. Uber hopes the $20 investment for acquiring each new customer will bring repeat business. Bauer says open rates on the promotional offers have been over 50 percent and click-through rates “are nearly four times what we normally see.” Use in a beta-test in Louisville, Ky., has been low, but Uber sees a lot of potential in the market where there is little cab service. Business is expected to grow with the city's upcoming Forecastle Festival in July, says Uber marketing director Lizi Hagan. Etix's Uber promotion will be offered in 55 cities, with plans to offer exclusive presales to Uber users in the future.
