Toronto-based startup Revvly creates customizable software that handles the functions common to all online ticketing and event-booking apps. "A lot of people realized that there’s a gap in the market for ticketing solutions,” says Revvly co-founder Saadia Muzaffar. “My idea was, if there are a lot of people wanting to do that, who’s helping them?” Muzaffar says Revvly's app offers time and development savings for companies eager to enter the market. In one case, Muzaffar says a client cut a 13-month development timeline down to six weeks. Revvly provides an industrial-strength development toolkit that performs common ticketing functions such as handling a steady flow of thousands of users at once without crashing, providing customer management, connecting with banks, storing and accessing data, storing personal information, and handling sensitive payment information in multiple currencies. Programmers can choose from an array of pre-written functions, and then focus on programming the features that differentiate their products. “Everyone is wanting to build an end solution from scratch,” Muzaffar says. “Nobody’s abstracting and saying, let’s make this efficient.”
