Detroit Lions Become First NFL Team to Use Veritix in Favor of Ticketmaster

The Detroit Lions have entered into a multi-year contract to make Veritix the team's exclusive provider for primary ticket sales, a first for a National Football League team. Ticketmaster exclusively controls the NFL's secondary ticket sales market, but will no longer be the Lions' primary sales provider. Lions spokesperson Ben Manges says the agreement is intended to give the team greater control over ticket sales and to offer fans more digital options without hiking costs. "We remain committed to implementing innovative technologies throughout our organization with a goal of engaging fans in a consistent and meaningful way," says Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand. The Lions also will eventually deploy Veritix's Flash Seats system, which enables fans to use their smartphones as paperless tickets as well as transfer their tickets to others. Veritix's sports clients also include the National Basketball Association's Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, and Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as the National Hockey League's Colorado Avalanche. "The Detroit Lions are innovators in the NFL, and their selection of Veritix proves they are focused on providing the best possible ticketing and event experience to their guests," says Veritix's Guy Villa.
