A new, gamified version of the social concert-planning app Loudie provides users with event information, enables sharing with friends, and offers free tickets to nearby shows. The original version of Loudie centered on enabling users to share events with others in remote locations, but founder Lance Dashoff says many users want to enjoy the concert and not spend that time sharing. The new version of the app is more casual, enabling users to browse and join concerts in New York and Los Angeles to share with followers. "The idea is around planning," Dashoff says. "You share a couple of concerts you’re interested in and it only takes having around three friends on it to be useful for finding something similar. It’s a great conversation starter." He says Loudie only sends notifications offering chances for free tickets, rather than overwhelming users with information. Users acquire points for joining concerts, and Loudie sends ticket offers for the first redeemers, based on points, location, and interests. For those who fail to make the first redeemer cutoff, Loudie offers a chance to buy tickets to mostly inexpensive, local shows.
