INTIX | Mentor Program

The principle behind the INTIX Mentorship Program is to allow more experienced or more knowledgeable members to help guide less experienced or less knowledgeable members when it comes to all things ticketing and related.  Mentors will help guide Red Dots both by providing specific knowledge about INTIX policies, procedures, and other helpful, relevant information as well as by sharing their general industry knowledge and expertise.

The Red Dot Mentor Program is designed to allow members that have attended the annual event multiple times, to assist members preparing for their first INTIX conference, otherwise known as Red Dots.

MENTORS

What is a Mentor?

A Mentor is a volunteer that has sufficient industry experience as well as knowledge about the INTIX organization, website, policies and procedures.

As a Mentor, you would be expected to provide guidance to any Red Dots assigned to you.  A Mentor could have one or multiple Red Dots assigned to them, and when assigned a Red Dot, they are expected to perform their Mentor duties over a two-year term.

A Mentor should make themselves available at times throughout the year as well as before and during the INTIX Annual Conference to answer any questions the Red Dot might have as well as provide guidance and knowledge.

What should I be doing as a Mentor?

Specifically, a Mentor is expected to introduce themselves to their Red Dots when they’ve been assigned, either through phone, email or in person.  Furthermore, they are expected to help guide their Red Dots and answer any questions they may have.

•    Visit the Red Dot Virtual Lounge & Introduce yourself to this year's Red Dots
•    Posts some tips & tricks for attending your first INTIX conference
•    Share your expertise by answering Red Dot questions

Please note that, a Mentor is not expected to have all the answers, but instead be able to point the Red Dot in the right direction, or show them how to utilize the resources made available to INTIX.

How do I become a Mentor?

An INTIX member must meet the requirements below in order to become a Mentor:

  • Volunteers to be a Mentor
  • Has been an INTIX member for a minimum of 3 years
  • Has attended at least 2 INTIX conferences

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please fill out the following form:  Become a Mentor

How are Mentors Assigned?

Each Mentor is assigned to a Red Dot and is expected to be their Mentor for two years.  Depending on how many Red Dots and Mentors there are, a Mentor can be assigned to multiple Red Dots, but will have no more than Red Dots at one time.

RED DOTS

What does it mean to be a Red Dot?

When checking in at the event, all new members that have never attended the INTIX conference before, receive a red sticker on their badges.  This tradition was started years ago to encourage conference “veterans” to welcome and embrace the new members. This sticker is in the shape of a circle or a dot, and as a result, over the years the term “Red Dot” has been lovingly adopted as the term for an attendee experiencing their first INTIX conference.

If you are Red Dot, you will be automatically enrolled into the Mentor Program and assigned a specific Mentor to help guide you through your first conference.

What should I be doing as a Red Dot in the Mentor Program?

As a Red Dot, you are encouraged to utilize the resources made available to you through the INTIX Mentor Program, such as utilizing the forums and polls as well as relying on your Mentor to answer any questions you might have about the conference, your INTIX membership and general ticketing questions.

Can I request what type of Mentor I would like?

We want you to get the most out of your INTIX Membership.  We also recognize that everyone’s needs are different.  Because of this, we do take requests.  However, please note, not all requests can be met.

If you would like to request a Mentor with specific skills (e.g. works in a particular vertical, or has experience using a specific type of technology, etc.), please email your request to the Member Connections Committee Chair.  We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

I haven't heard from my Mentor, what should I do?

Your Mentor will reach out to you prior to the event.  If you haven't heard from your mentor or you have any questions regarding your mentor, please send a message to the current Member Connections Committee Chair.

How can I sign up for a Mentor?

If you are Red Dot, you will be automatically enrolled into the Mentor Program and assigned a specific Mentor to help guide you through your first conference.

Currently only Red Dots, or members attending their first INTIX conference, can be assigned a Mentor.  However, in the future, it is our goal to serve all INTIX members, allowing them to sign up to either receive a Mentor or be a Mentor, depending on their needs.
