Getting to know YOU!

What qualities are important to you in a leader?
Again, I would say honesty, to know exactly where things are at. Somebody who actually does the work and knows what they’re talking about.

Which talent would you most like to have?
Musical. I wish I could play an instrument. I can’t carry a tune. I played a lot of sports growing up, I did plays and I did act a bit. But I really admire people who are able to play an instrument and compose music.

Where would you most like to live?
I like living in Montreal, but if I were picking somewhere different I would say London, England or New York City. I feel you can get a full experience and do so much in those cities. They are big but also have a lot of small parts to them. No matter what you are in the mood for you will be able to find it there.

What is your most treasured possession?
My parents moved out of their house last year after living there for 50 years. There are seven kids in our family and they split up their belongings amongst us. My mother gave me our crèche, a  Christmas nativity scene. In France, they don’t do Christmas trees like they do in North America. They have nativity scenes instead. My mother has been building her crèche for years and she gave it to me when she moved out of the house.

What do you value most in your friends?
Tolerance, laughter and support. I have a weird sense of humor. I like to make myself laugh and my friends are okay with that, which is great.

Who are your favorite writers?
I am a reader and I really enjoy reading. Different writers touch me in different ways so I could name about 20 that I really enjoy. I like Miriam Toews, she’s a Canadian writer and right now she is probably my favorite.

What’s the best live event you’ve ever seen and why?
I went to see Prince in the early 90s with my friend Christine and we had such a great time. I wore a catsuit without shoulders and jeans. It was a very classy affair. It was the first time we’d spent a lot of money on a ticket.

What is your favorite venue and why?
I would have to say the Saint-Denis Theatre in Montreal. It’s the first theatre I ever sold for and 22 years later I’m still selling for it. Plus, it has a big history and turned 100 this year.

What is your favorite song / musician / band / artist / player / team of all time and why?
The Miserere mei, by Allegri. It’s so beautiful that it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

What is your favorite place to visit or place you’d love to visit and why?
My favorite place to visit is my parents’ cottage in Northern Ontario. It’s a small cottage on Lake Huron, right on the beach. There are not always a lot of people there. It’s peaceful and I really like being near the water.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?
Pick your battles, not everything is important and sometimes it’s okay to let things go.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I read and I make silver jewelry.

If you were granted three wishes today, what would they be?
I’m in a pretty good place and don’t have a lot of stuff to wish for, but I would wish for a trust fund to help all my nieces and nephews through college without debt.

What brings you the most joy / greatest meaning in life?
Spending time with friends and family. The people who really know you and really love you.

Why are you a member of INTIX?
INTIX brings me a lot in the sense of networking, knowledge and being able to talk about people from different areas. I’m exposed to a lot of different ideas here. Also, you can’t just always take, you have to give back. I think that it’s a resource for other people and I think it’s important that it remain that way.

How do you use INTIX?
Again, I would say networking. It’s through INTIX that I meet other people and then through meeting those people, I am exposed to different ideas.

What does INTIX give you that is different from everything else you are doing?
INTIX gives me a different sense of community I would say, it’s peer-to-peer. I’m the general manager at work, so when decisions have to be made, I often have to make them. It’s a different relationship than with clients or competitors. At INTIX, it is peer related and it doesn’t matter if you’re vulnerable.

Who or what inspires you?
People who see something that needs to be done and they just do it.

What do you love most about your job?
I love my team. I love working with my team and solving problems with them.

What do you love most about our industry?
I like the fact that it involves so much. There is so much that is part of ticketing. I do marketing, human resources, management and customer service. I love the variety
