Drawing repeat fans to live games demands enhancing the fan experience significantly, according to a recently convened panel of sports heavyweights. Sacramento Kings president Chris Granger emphasized a new stadium designed to highlight a civic experience, with accents on sustainability and agriculture, and serving local food sourced from local farmers. Meanwhile, diversity of experience is the key theme of the San Francisco Giants' AT&T Stadium, said Giants executive Alfonso Felder. He also stressed future development of the stadium's surroundings, noting "we are in the process of housing, retail, and residential proposals," with a goal of contributing to the San Francisco community. Felder said connectivity technology is essential to the in-arena experience. The San Francisco 49ers' Al Guido said the team will be investing $20 million in projects this season on development of areas outside Levi's Stadium as they get ready for the Super Bowl. The Detroit Lions' Lou Perez reported the team currently is working with Olympia Entertainment on the development of destination elements around the Ford Field ballpark, and he said the live game experience has always been better than the in-home experience. "But we have to reduce the cost," Perez acknowledged. "We can't have folks checking their lifestyle at the door."
