Former AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips has been appointed CEO of Global Entertainment, the newly-launched U.S. branch of Global, the Media and Entertainment Group. The 360-styled content company will feature touring, label, publishing, artist management, branding/sponsorships, and marketing divisions. Phillips says the Global content creation model will become the standard template for all major labels within three to five years. As AEG CEO, Phillips supervised the expansion of AEG Live's Festival Division and produced films featuring Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, and Katy Perry. He also oversaw a network of regional offices and worked with ongoing subsidiaries such as Goldenvoice, Concerts West, and TMG-AEG Live. Under his tenure, AEG became a global touring deal rival to Live Nation, with creative marketing and promotion for a broad spectrum of touring clients. Phillips reports since signing his deal with Global on April 1, 2014, he has been refining the model and building a stable of executive talent. In its U.K. home base, Global owns national radio stations in virtually every genre, and has branched out into the Global Television and Global Publishing divisions. It is likely Global Entertainment will compete or ally itself with Live Nation and AEG as a tour producer and promoter on a worldwide scale.
