Spanish ticketing startup Ticketea, the leading platform for event promotion and ticket sales in Spain, recently purchased German last-minute booking app TodayTickets. The company has offices in Madrid, Barcelona, London, and Berlin. Ticketea raised $4 million in Series B funding from Spanish venture capitalist Seaya Ventures, which it is using to expand through acquisitions. So far, the company purchased software development company Telemaco Sistemas to develop its mobile-focused ticketing products, and the legacy ticket sales service Telentrada. Ticketea's platform helps consumers learn of new events and gives event organizers a way to promote events and sell tickets. “We try to simplify the way everybody can promote, manage, and sell their tickets online,” says Ticketea CEO Javier Andres. It is free to publish and promote events on Ticketea, and the company earns 10 percent of every ticket sold on its site.
