TodayTix has developed a mobile application for theater fans, which is currently selling up to 3 percent of tickets for most Broadway productions. The company has attracted $6.1 million in Series A venture capital to broaden the app's reach to London and elsewhere. TodayTix offers ease of choice between dozens of theater shows and their various showtimes. Users can scroll through graphical tiles of different productions, tap to find out more, select a showtime and seats, and pay. TodayTix is the invention of two Broadway producers with expertise in tech investment and online ticketing, and it has generated $20 million in annual revenue since its launch nine months ago. The Series A investments will underwrite TodayTix's ambition to dominate the theater industry in New York City, roll out service in London in the first quarter of 2015, and cultivate a team of data scientists and other technologists to optimize the app for diehard theatergoers who can expand its revenue. The startup's eventual goal is “a more comprehensive view of connecting audiences in small towns and big towns,” says co-founder Brian Fenty.
