Comcast-Spectacor is merging Pennsylvania-based New Era Tickets and Paciolan in California into a single ticket company. The combined 325-employee company will retain the Paciolan name, maintain its base in California, and be led by Paciolan CEO Dave Butler. Paciolan makes access to its ticketing technology available to teams and facilities so they can brand their in-house ticketing systems. Comcast-Spectacor's Ike Richman says the company's choice to merge the two ticket firms was a "strategic business decision." All clients of New Era will become Paciolan customers as a result of the merger. Comcast-Spectacor started New Era Tickets in 2003, when it also acquired a minority stake in Paciolan. Although Paciolan was acquired by Ticketmaster in 2008, Comcast-Spectacor maintained its minority interest in the company and gained full ownership in 2010 after the Department of Justice required Ticketmaster to sell its stake in Paciolan to obtain approval for its merger with Live Nation.
