A new strategic partnership between Twitter and mobile-based exchange platform Twickets and The Ticket Trust aims to counter profiteering in the secondary ticketing market. The Ticket Trust is a secure ethical ticket exchange site established by Sandbag and the Association of Independent festivals (AIF), and as a consequence of the alliance The Ticket Trust website also will be featured on the Twickets app and Twitter feed. With Twickets, event goers can exchange spare tickets for various events with fellow fans for no more than face value, using a free fan-to-fan ticket-swapping mechanism on Twitter and a mobile app. The Ticket Trust has sold more than 160,000 British pounds in tickets since its 2011 launch and is the suggested resale site for all AIF member festivals, which have a collective audience of 500,000. Meanwhile, Twickets has more than 200,000 users and has enabled the exchange of more than 100,000 tickets in the last year. "As we move into 2014, secondary ticketing continues to dominate the live music agenda, pushing up prices for music fans and potentially stunting independent festival growth," says AIF co-founder Ben Turner. "This partnership is a fantastic step in combating secondary ticketing and gives any tickets listed on our Ticket Trust exchange platform added exposure."
