Gametime CEO Brad Griffith developed the Gametime app to simplify the mobile ticket purchasing experience for sporting events without the need to print out tickets. The app lets users buy a ticket and present their phone with the ticket at the gate, where it is scanned in. Gametime also is focusing on tickets that are discounted just before the game, which it is pulling from "a bunch of different suppliers," according to Griffith. This ensures that purchasers get tickets at less-expensive prices, and they do not have to buy them days or weeks in advance. The Gametime interface is similar to that for HotelTonight, and the founders of HotelTonight are shareholders in Gametime's initial funding round. Additional investors include owners of the Warriors and Giants, along with Sincerely and Xobni co-founder Matt Brezina. Griffith says his company is currently concentrated solely in San Francisco and Los Angeles, partly because the app is limited to stadiums that support such mobile ticketing. Still, he anticipates the app will add several more cities in the year ahead.
