Eventbrite is buying Latin American ticketing service Eventioz and London-based event data firm Lanyrd in its first two acquisitions. Although Eventbrite CEO Kevin Hartz notes the company has had an "organic mindset with an aversion to acquisitions," he says the company is now at "the stage and size to be acquisitive." Hartz says the company is hungry for geographical and technological expansion, partly due to $60 million in new funding raised earlier this year. Through Lanyrd, Eventbrite will be able to embed more structured data into its listings, while Eventioz will provide Eventbrite with a base for expanding in the Latin American region. "We have no dates to report [integrating Lanyrd into Eventbrite], but we plan to start pushing things out as soon as possible," Hartz says. "It's more an incremental change versus a flip being switched." Meanwhile, to effect as seamless a transition as possible to Eventbrite's technical framework, Hartz says Eventioz will maintain operations in Latin America.
